Purpose
To enable librarians who work directly with young adults in public or school libraries to attend the ALA Annual Conference for the first time.
Focus -
Library and archival sciences.
Qualifications -
Candidate must have a YALSA personal membership (preferably for at least two years); must represent a public library and work directly with young adults ages 12 to 18.
Criteria
Selection will be based on degree of need for additional materials for young adults; degree of the current collection's use and the specificity of examples used; soundness of the rationale for the selection of materials; quality of the description of the benefits this grant will bring to young adults; degree to which the applicant's approach to collection development aligns with the principles in The Future of Library Services for and with Teens: a Call to Action.
