Purpose
To foster career development for individuals performing clinical or translational research in a liver-related area and who have shown commitment to excellence at an early stage of their research study.
Focus -
Health sciences; Medicine.
Qualifications -
Applicants must be either advance fellows (i.e. will have completed at least two years of fellowship training/research at the start of the award) or junior faculty members (at or below the rank of Assistant Professor) for no more than five years at the start of the award in an accredited North American (U.S., Canada, or Mexico) academic institution (at least 50% effort should be devoted to research activities); and must be members of AASLD at the time of award application and maintain active membership for the duration of the award period (they must have their respective sponsors or co-sponsors who are AASLD members in good standing). A single sponsoring institution may submit up to two applications per distinct department within each institutional training site; Applicants may only apply for one (1) AASLD Foundation (AASLDF) award per application cycle.
Criteria
Candidates will be evaluated based upon their background, their commitment to a research career, the strength of their research project and the environment in which they will conduct the project. Applications will be reviewed based on the written materials submitted. Incomplete applications and applications that fail to adhere strictly to the instructions (including the submission due date and page limitations) will not be reviewed. All decisions are final.
