Purpose
To encourage in-depth coverage of topics of pressing concern to the United States and Japan through individual short-term policy-related projects.
Focus -
Journalism.
Qualifications -
Applicants must be citizens of the United States and Japan with at least five years of professional journalistic experience with newspapers, news magazines, wire services and online news organizations; freelancers are also eligible; nationals of other countries must be permanent residents of the United States or Japan, or have a long-term affiliation with the American or Japanese journalistic communities; US-based with no previous journalistic employment in Japan or Japan-based with no previous journalistic employment in the United States will be given priority; proposals must be non-partisan.

Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.
