Purpose
To help defray research and living expenses for the equivalent of an academic year of study.
Focus -
Medieval studies.
Qualifications -
Applicant must be a graduate student in a North American university who is researching and writing a significant dissertation for the Ph.D. on any subject in French medieval history that can be realized only by sustained research in the archives and libraries of France.
Criteria
Selection will be based on the committee criteria.

Applicants should upload a PDF file explaining what part of your dissertation research and/or writing you expect to accomplish during the tenure of your fellowship: essay of not more than 1000 words: Explain how your dissertation research requires study in France. Detail where you propose to live and work in France; Describe previous funding you have received to support your dissertation research and how it was used. Explain the need for the Baldwin fellowship to complete the dissertation successfully; a letter of recommendation from your dissertation director and a second graduate professor.
