Purpose
As lawyers, we have served many individuals who have been in hard situations, and we know how stressful it can be during those times. We admire people who are able to learn and improve when faced with struggles. That’s why we are offering the Family Adversity Scholarship to recognize students who have been through hard times with their families and have come out the other side a better person.
The attorneys at Yates & Wheland are pleased to share The Family Adversity Scholarship! This scholarship was created to help students who have gone through hard times with their families and have worked hard to stay dedicated to pursuing their education. the applicant that best answers the prompt will be awarded a $1000 scholarship to help them pursue higher education.
Qualifications -
•The scholarship is open to any current high school senior, college student or graduate student who is a legal resident of the United States and who is enrolled in a two to five year post-secondary institution for the 2021 fall semester.
•Employees of Yates and Wheland, their immediate families, and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
•Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be in good academic standing at their current school.
Criteria
•Applicants must submit a 750-word response to the prompt: Discuss a time in your life when you and your family had to work through a tough scenario and how did that make an impact on your life going forward. What were you able to learn and how are you now able to help others going through similar situations?
•Applicants must submit a professional resumé with their essay that lists their academic, professional, and volunteer experience.
•Applicants must submit an official transcript from their current school. Transfer students or first-year students may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, in addition to their most recent official transcript from their prior school.

To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must email their full application (including the essay, resumé, and transcript) to info@ywlawyers.com by September 30, 2021. Any applications sent after this date will not be considered.
Scholarship applications should be sent with the subject line “Family Adversity Scholarship Application”, followed by the applicants first initial and last name.
