Purpose
To improve the ways in which an understanding of history is communicated to the American people.
Focus -
Culture; Filmmaking; History, American; Journalism; Performing arts; Writing.
Qualifications -
Applicants must have work for the general public which produces imaginative, non-formulaic works dealing with pre-twentieth century American history.
Criteria
Recipients are selected based on the quality of performed task.
Amount -
$2,000
Award Duration -
Annual; four weeks during the period January 1 through December 31.

Applicants must fill out the online application form; should submit current resume; two letters of reference from individuals familiar with applicant's career accomplishments and goals; two to three copies of full, completed works, in addition to the 25-page work sample; references should be sent directly to AAS by email to Cheryl McRell.
