Purpose
To provide scholars with time and resources to extend research and/or to revise the dissertation for publication.
Focus -
History.
Qualifications -
Applicants must be scholars no more than three years beyond receipt of their doctorate; fellowship must be for a minimum of twelve months; intended to provide the recipient with time and resources to extend research and revise the dissertation written for publication; anything relevant to the society's library collections and programmatic scope of American history and culture through 1876 is eligible; must come from such fields as history, literature, American studies, political science, art history, music history, and others relating to America.
Criteria
Selection will based on the applicant's scholarly qualifications, appropriateness of the project to the AAS collections and interests, and the likelihood that the revised dissertation will make a highly significant books.
