Purpose
To support the development of Aboriginal artists, or artists working on Aboriginal cultural themes, who seek to express and share Aboriginal culture and perspectives in a contemporary or traditional context.
Focus -
Culture; Media arts.
Qualifications -
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and have their primary residence in Alberta for one full year before applying for a grant; applicants, including ensembles or collectives, must not be incorporated under either provincial or federal legislation.
Criteria
Selection will be based on the committee's criteria.

To Apply
Applicants must provide the following in the application package: a completed application form and signed Applicant Agreement with original signature; ensembles must designate one member who is the contact person for all requirements of the grant; must submit the required materials if the applicants are under the age of 18 years at the time of application; an application checklist must be completed and submitted with the application; a detailed description of the project, which demonstrates the project's connection to historical practice in a specific Aboriginal community, Protocols, and permission from the community to use traditional tribal knowledge must be addressed. Include a letter of agreement with mentor, elder or cultural resource person, and an outline of the objectives, planned activities, expected results and benefits; a balanced project budget detailing revenues and expenditures in Canadian dollars; total revenues must equal total expenditures; application category art production, marketing or research, official invitations, confirmation or itineraries, as applicable; for marketing, a detailed marketing plan; for mentorship, training or career development; applicants who have been accepted into a mentorship must provide a letter of agreement as proof of acceptance and support from the mentor, elder or cultural resource person and a detailed description, schedule and budget for the course of study; applicants are encouraged to submit additional support materials that may assist in the assessment process; clip applications into four packages; a CD, videocassette or USB must be clearly labeled with the applicant's name on the media.
