United Auburn Indian Community Scholarship Program

The United Auburn Indian Community Scholarship Program is established by the United Auburn Indian Community (UAIC) to support the educational aspirations of Indigenous Americans in the Sacramento, California area. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to selected Native Americans who are enrolled in higher education programs, ranging from associate degrees to graduate degrees, and vocational programs.

Level of Study: Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree, Graduate Degree, Professional Development, Vocational

Award Type: Scholarship

Focus: No study requirements. Must be enrolled in 3 credits or more.

Purpose: The purpose of the scholarship program is to support Native American students in pursuing higher education and achieving their educational and career goals.

Qualifications: To be eligible for the United Auburn Indian Community Scholarship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Provide documented proof of enrollment in a BIA federally recognized Native American tribe; or provide a tribal I.D. card or proof of lineal descent.
  • Reside in one of the following six California counties: Placer, Nevada, Yuba, Sutter, Sacramento, or El Dorado.

Criteria: Applicants are required to submit a typed personal two-page essay. The essay should include background information, personal and academic achievements, any community/volunteer/leadership activities, reasons for attending college, and overall goals.

Funds: The scholarship provides $5,000.

Duration: One-time award

Number of Awards: 5-10

  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or advisor.
  • Proof of Native American heritage.
