The Michigan Student Aid website houses a database of Michigan place-based scholarships. A Michigan place-based scholarship means that one of the scholarship components is linked to a Michigan school, county, city, or region. The database does not contain Michigan scholarships without a place-based component. In addition to this database, below are other available scholarship opportunities for Michigan students:

State Grants

• Michigan Tuition Grant is available to undergraduate Michigan residents with financial needs who plan to attend or attend a Michigan degree-granting, non-profit independent college.
• Children of Veterans Tuition Grant
• Police Officer's and Fire Fighter's Survivor Tuition Grant (STG)
• Tuition Incentive Program

State Scholarship Opportunities

• Fostering Futures Scholarship provides scholarships to students who have experienced foster care in Michigan on or after age 13.

Institutional Scholarships

Colleges provide institutional grants and scholarships to help make up the difference between college costs and what a family can be expected to contribute through income, savings, loans, and student earnings. Awards may be based on academic merit, artistic or athletic talent, financial need, or other factors. You can learn more about the types of institutional grants and scholarships awarded by checking each college's financial aid website.

Private Scholarships

Private scholarships provide funding for students who meet the requirements specified by the donor organization. Local organizations or businesses may offer scholarships to students who plan to study at a regional college or plan to pursue a degree in a particular field of study.
